Hey everyone! I’ve just launched a Kickstarter to help me put my 2007 album “Normal Bias” out on vinyl. It’s the one with “Drunk Classic Rock Fans”, “Happy To Be Alive” and “Town In Flames” on it, amongst others.

I have a mere 45 days to reach the needed goal. If it isn’t met, there is exactly no chance of the album ever existing on that format, unfortunately.

Crazy perks for pledging and everything, including all of the Normal Bias demos, a limited repress of the Live At Stardust DVD (which you can see clips of here), and some insane limited and personalized stuff.

Please check it out and help if you can! Also, please share the link everywhere shamelessly, because I’m really nervous about failing.

Oh, and watch the video on the Kickstarter page, please. Explains everything!

Check it out and pledge here!

EDIT: WE DID IT! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Every year on my birthday, I attempt to release something free for you, just to say thank you for liking what I do.

This year it’s an official bootleg featuring some highlights from the 2011 Marc With a C Holiday show, performed in front of a packed house at Stardust Video in Orlando, FL on 12/16/11.

Now, this isn’t the entire show, of course. We had some equipment issues that kept this gig from sounding as stellar as we’d hoped when setting up all of the recording stuff, and the initial plan was to take the three hour show and edit it all into a shorter live album that was somewhat indicative of an average Motherfuckers Be Bullshittin’ era gig – albeit with a few surprises.

Since the whole show was caught on tape, I’ve done just that here for you, but as the results were not as sonically pleasing as I’d hoped due to microphone malfunctions and a PA that was about to crap out at any second? I’ve edited this into an approximation of the live album I’d planned on making… only it’s marred by bootleggy sound quality. You can get an idea of what we were going for, and it’s still a lot of fun to listen to. Not to mention a fun souvenir if you were there!

Oh, and its free to download on a limited-time basis until January 31st. Then it goes offline, and it’s up to you to spread it.

Here’s the tracklist!

01. Drunk Classic Rock Fans

02. Stairway To Rudolph

03. You’re My Princess

04. Motherfuckers Be Bullshittin’

05. Show Me How To Shine Shoes

06. Winter Colors

07. Holly Vincent

08. Love My Little Squiddy

09. Bed Intruder Song

10. Happy To Be Alive

11. Life’s So Hard

12. “Terrorthumping”

(Chris Zabriskie plays the drums on a few of these songs. Lando The Roadie shares a microphone with me during “Show Me How To Shine Shoes”.)

<del datetime="2012-02-08T19:12:06+00:00">Download the full zip file right here and rock out, eh? (right-click, save-as, it’s yours).

</del> (Sorry, time’s up on this one.)

Plus, Jeff Douglas took some great pictures of the show that you can see here, in case you wanna know at it looked like when we played these songs!

Let me know what you think. I hope you enjoy it!

Love on ya,

Wow. A lot has happened since the last time I sent out one of these all-encompassing newsletters full of Marc With a C news, hasn’t it? I think that the best way to get everyone up to speed is to talk about many subjects, signifying a change in direction through bullet points typed in all caps. Don’t you?

OH WOW, A BRAND NEW EP!
As you may know, every year I try to put out something free for the holidays to say “thank you”. Sometimes it’s a collection of covers, sometimes a live album. This year? It’s a brand new EP called Recorded Sound, and you can get it right now for any price you want (especially free) at marcwithac.bandcamp.com. It contains “Show Me How To Shine Shoes” and four other songs. I hope that you like it! Tell all of your friends and spam all of your enemies with it.

OH NEATO, A NEW MUSIC VIDEO!
Speaking of “Show Me How To Shine Shoes”, here’s a series of moving pictures that syncs up with the song. It’s possibly the greatest music video of all time.

WAIT, A NEW MARC WITH A SINGLE, TOO?
It’s true! That’s also available at marcwithac.bandcamp.com. The song is called “Obedience”, and while it’s available on a pay-what-you-want basis, any proceeds raised from the song will be donated to Occupy Wall Street.

NEED A HOLIDAY GIFT? THE “MARC SINGS FOR YOU” SERIES IS BACK!
Here’s how it works: You buy a Marc Sings For You selection. I sit down and record eight songs live just for you from my repertoire. I pick four of the tunes by pulling the titles from a Tupperware bowl, and when you check out via PayPal, you leave four song requests for me to fill on your album. (The requests must be one of my originals or a cover I’m known for doing).

In roughly two weeks (give or take) you’ll receive a personally made “edition of one” from yours truly. Once you receive it, you’re free to share it, break it, covet it… anything you’d like except for selling it! They make great gifts, and this year? They’ll come in a nice neat and shiny package that won’t look at all like the CD-R’s of yore! Interested? There’s more info and ordering information at this very link!

DID YOU KNOW ABOUT THE ANNUAL MARC WITH A C HOLIDAY SHOW IN ORLANDO?
So, as you may know, every year I, Marc With a C, play a marathon holiday show. Last year, we played all of the “Normal Bias” and “Bubblegum Romance” albums in their entirety. Some years, I just focus on rarely played tunes. This year? It’s up to you.

No, really. It’s up to you!

Friday, December 16th @ Stardust Video, Orlando, FL. 8:30 PM doors. Free. All ages, but I’m going to say “fuck” a lot. Chris Zabriskie plans to play some drums.

Here’s how this works: you RSVP to the event using this Facebook invite. You leave one song in the comments section that you want me to play (just one). I play as many of them as I can in two sets, plus I play a few things scattered through the show that I want to do. And then, we’ll do an “all-request encore” where pretty much anything can happen. Although I’m increasingly hard of hearing, and having people yell the song titles all at once isn’t always paying off, so special consideration will be given to anyone that makes a sign to bring to the show with their song request emblazoned on it. Or maybe make a t-shirt with your request on it? That’s one way to guarantee I’ll play a song: make something creative. Man, this is gonna be such a blast. I already can’t wait!

THE REAL CONGREGATION IS NOW ON NERDY SHOW!
Recently, my radio show left the WPRK airwaves, but now we have a new home at Nerdy Show, and I couldn’t be happier about it! It was even covered by Consequence Of Sound, and now you’re just a few clicks away from hearing the weekly show anytime you would like. What are you waiting for? These music geek podcasts aren’t gonna listen to themselves, you know.

SPEAKING OF PODCASTS, HEAR THE INTERVIEW I DID ON SEQUEL CAST ABOUT SHOCK TREATMENT!

YOU GUYS, NOW I JUST REALLY LIKE TYPING IN ALL CAPS, SO I’M JUST GONNA DO THAT FROM NOW, ACTUALLY.

Just kidding. That would be annoying.

Thanks for your support, and I hope you’re all okay!

- Marc

Here’s a new official bootleg for you all to feast your, urm, ears… upon.

It was recorded in front of a small crowd in Orlando. The night was so rainy that I’m amazed anyone showed up at all. Plus, there was a ton of other stuff going on that evening, but despite the wrath-of-god weather going on just outside of the venue, we had a really good time.

Two things of note about this show:

- The venue had an anti-cover policy that I found out about a little too late. For this reason, songs had to be cut from the setlist left and right, and you’re going to hear that referenced numerous times during this gig.

- I had to use an unreal amount of noise reduction to make this listenable at all, as the feed coming from the PA was basically a wall of static. So, if you hear some “metallizing” during some of the quieter moments, you’ll hopefully remember… this is a bootleg.

- Headphones are your best bet.

Here’s the setlist:

Set One: Just Stop Trying / Try To Just Stop / Nerdy Girls / You’re My Princess / Chicken Pox & Star Wars Guys / A Very Special Episode / If You Loved Me / Stuck With Me / Drunk Classic Rock Fans / Good Night Miss Oliver

Set Two: Calculator / Ammonia / Roll The Tape / Amy, It’s Kevin / Town In Flames / No London In Brazil / Show Me How To Shine Shoes / Love My Little Squiddy / Motherfuckers Be Bullshittin’ / Life’s So Hard / Happy To Be Alive

Encore: All My Drug Use Is Accidental / I Tried To Die Young / Bounce Bounce Bounce / I’m In Love With Everyone I Know

Hi everyone! I’m super excited to bring you all of this news. I’ve been slacking a little bit on the updates, but it’s because I’ve been busy doing promotion for my new album, Motherfuckers Be Bullshitin’, which is of course available on vinyl, CD and digital download at marcwithac.bandcamp.com. In the meantime, here’s some other stuff I can tell you about. Including a show that is happening TONIGHT (Tuesday, August 16th, 2011) in Orlando!

NEW AWARDS – Folks, I have to thank you wholeheartedly for voting for me in the yearly Orlando Weekly “Best Of Orlando” poll. For the second year in a row, you gentle souls have seen fit to vote that I, Marc With a C, am Orlando’s “Best Indie Act”. No, really, I’m still super blown away by it, I’m humbled, I’m flattered, and I love you guys dearly. Check out this link that proves I’m not totally out of my mind: http://orlandoweekly.com/boo/arts-entertainment/music-readers-picks-1.1174942

NEW-ISH SONGS – Later this year, I’ll be releasing my first ever outtakes/rarities album. It’ll contain songs recorded for various projects that I liked very much, but either a label dropped out, they didn’t fit in on the releases they were intended for, or they just didn’t fit anywhere else. I’ve been letting a few of the songs stream a few places. Here’s how you can hear some of them

“Show Me How To Shine Shoes” (http://retrolowfi.tumblr.com/post/7951131298/rappy-mcrapperson-and-mc-wreckshin-wrote-what): Rappy McRapperson and MC Wreckshin wrote what might be the catchiest song of 2010 with “Show Me How To Blow Dudes”. Unfortunately, you can’t play it on the radio, and you can’t sing it around the water cooler. To remedy this problem, Marc With a C humbly presents this to you…

“No London In Da Club” (http://retrolowfi.tumblr.com/post/8524773716/ive-been-literally-going-through-every-unlabeled): Around 2003-ish or so, my pal Chris Zabriskie was dabbling in a side project called DJ Hand Me That Allen Wrench. One day, he surprised me by making a “club mix” of the *demo* version of my song “No London In Brazil”. I’m still just as surprised as you are by it right now.

“Making Bacon On The Beach” (http://retrolowfi.tumblr.com/post/8017765616/in-2005-i-made-a-big-deal-out-of-quitting-my): In 2005, I made a big deal out of quitting my brand of acoustic-based sarcastic indie pop. My plan was to reinvent myself as the first lo-fi glam/hair metal artist to ever come out of Florida. It was clearly a joke, and one that I may have taken too far, as I didn’t even let on to some of my friends that I was kidding. My new stage name was to be Marc With a Perm. This song was to be my first single. It’s called “Makin’ Bacon On The Beach”. This is the first time (to my knowledge) that I have ever posted it anywhere without a heaping amount of bullshit stories surrounding it. (Really. I even had my closest friends going on this, and surprisingly, most of them still talk to me.)

NEW REISSUES – Share The Covers, Bitch!: Back in 2006, I released my first ever collection of covers by “various artists”. It was called Share The Covers, Bitch!, and it consisted of things that I mostly recorded for fun without ever really intending to release. For various reasons, the existing online versions were mastered from very lossy sources, and were somehow missing a song from the tracklist. For the first time ever, it’s now available from the master source, and you can download it for absolutely any price you’d like (which also means free, if you want) at marcwithac.bandcamp.com!

NEW OFFICIAL BOOTLEG – That’s right! Time for Official Bootleg #15. This one was recorded on 12.11.10 at Stardust in Orlando, FL. It’s the first set of the 2010 Marc With a C Holiday Show, and I play the Normal Bias album in it’s entirety. It’s totally free, too! Go get it at http://www.retrolowfi.com/marcwithac/2011/08/04/now-available-for-download-official-bootleg-series-15-2010-holiday-show-set-one-orlando-fl/

NERDAPALOOZA – So, you had to miss out on this years Nerdapalooza, eh? Well, the story is that on Day One of the event, I played a set, and then half of Sci-Fried joined me to play the title track from Motherfuckers Be Bullshittin‘ (which was covered by Wired, and you can see video of it here: http://www.wired.com/geekdad/2011/08/nerdapalooza-2011-what-you-missed-marc-with-a-c-sci-fried-nsfw/). And then, the other members of Sci-Fried joined me for a version of “Nerdy Girls” that pretty much no one saw coming (also covered by Wired Magazine, and here’s a link to their video footage: http://www.wired.com/geekdad/2011/08/nerdapalooza-2011-what-you-missed-marc-with-a-c-sci-fried-nerdy-girls/). Sci-Fried went on to play their complete set, and then I joined them for a really surprising cover song. And get this… Count3rcu1ture.com has posted a video of the ENTIRE set, if you want to watch the whole hour-long fiasco. Check it out here: http://www.count3rcu1ture.com/2011/07/c3c1-nap2011-marc-with-c-sci-fried.html

Now, there was a ton more Nerdapalooza coverage as well. For example, Nerdy Show grabbed an interview with me where I talk about our lord and savior, The Great Squiddy, and you can hear it on this episode: http://nerdyshow.com/2011/07/shows/nerdy-show-shows/season-4-episode-18-nerdapalooza-2011-aftermath/

And of course, there’s lots more where that came from, too. There was more coverage of the Nerdapalooza set from Wired (http://www.wired.com/geekdad/2011/07/nerdapalooza-2011-what-you-missed-%E2%80%93-part-one-geekdad-weekly-rewind/), as well as a veritable ton of pictures taken during my set from Geek World Order, and here’s the one particularly tasty set of pictures from them: http://www.geekworldordersite.com/blog/2011/07/sci-fried-marc-with-a-c-power-hour-part-2/

MORE PRESS, WHA??? – Oh god, it’s almost embarrassing how much press work I’ve done in the past few months. I mean, remember, for years, I refused to talk to journalists of any kind, and now, well… want interviews? I did a very in-depth one about the new album, one that might be one of my favorites ever with Boca Mag, (http://www.bocamag.com/blog/prolific-orlando-musician-to-make-rare-miami-appearance/), and if video interviews are your bag, you’ll want to check out this one from Count3rCu1ture that also includes live footage of me performing “Happy To Be Alive” and “Life’s So Hard”, (http://www.count3rcu1ture.com/2011/06/count3rcu1ture-episode-marc.html), I talked at length with Orlando Weekly about my new record and the nerd music scene in general, (http://orlandoweekly.com/arts/culture/live-active-cultures-1.1162473), and I also did a short interview on the Slacker & The Man show about international incidents and such, (http://slackerandtheman.podbean.com/2011/07/11/episode-178-elephant-porn-and-invisible-bigfoot/).

But wait! Wired Magazine also did a review/interview of Motherfuckers Be Bullshittin’ that’s heavy on talking about fidelity and production techniques (http://www.wired.com/geekdad/2011/06/geekdad-music-review-marc-with-a-c-exposes-the-truth-in-fidelity/), Hipster Please! called my new album “a musical masterpiece” in their review, (http://www.hipsterplease.com/2011/06/hit-you-where-you-live.html), and Boca Mag talked about a recent show that I played in Miami (http://www.bocamag.com/blog/nerds-unite-at-churchills/)
