Marc With a C releases the “Recorded Sound” EP for free! (And other news!)
Wow. A lot has happened since the last time I sent out one of these all-encompassing newsletters full of Marc With a C news, hasn’t it? I think that the best way to get everyone up to speed is to talk about many subjects, signifying a change in direction through bullet points typed in all caps. Don’t you?
OH WOW, A BRAND NEW EP!
As you may know, every year I try to put out something free for the holidays to say “thank you”. Sometimes it’s a collection of covers, sometimes a live album. This year? It’s a brand new EP called Recorded Sound, and you can get it right now for any price you want (especially free) at marcwithac.bandcamp.com. It contains “Show Me How To Shine Shoes” and four other songs. I hope that you like it! Tell all of your friends and spam all of your enemies with it.
OH NEATO, A NEW MUSIC VIDEO!
Speaking of “Show Me How To Shine Shoes”, here’s a series of moving pictures that syncs up with the song. It’s possibly the greatest music video of all time.
WAIT, A NEW MARC WITH A SINGLE, TOO?
It’s true! That’s also available at marcwithac.bandcamp.com. The song is called “Obedience”, and while it’s available on a pay-what-you-want basis, any proceeds raised from the song will be donated to Occupy Wall Street.
NEED A HOLIDAY GIFT? THE “MARC SINGS FOR YOU” SERIES IS BACK!
Here’s how it works: You buy a Marc Sings For You selection. I sit down and record eight songs live just for you from my repertoire. I pick four of the tunes by pulling the titles from a Tupperware bowl, and when you check out via PayPal, you leave four song requests for me to fill on your album. (The requests must be one of my originals or a cover I’m known for doing).
In roughly two weeks (give or take) you’ll receive a personally made “edition of one” from yours truly. Once you receive it, you’re free to share it, break it, covet it… anything you’d like except for selling it! They make great gifts, and this year? They’ll come in a nice neat and shiny package that won’t look at all like the CD-R’s of yore! Interested? There’s more info and ordering information at this very link!
DID YOU KNOW ABOUT THE ANNUAL MARC WITH A C HOLIDAY SHOW IN ORLANDO?
So, as you may know, every year I, Marc With a C, play a marathon holiday show. Last year, we played all of the “Normal Bias” and “Bubblegum Romance” albums in their entirety. Some years, I just focus on rarely played tunes. This year? It’s up to you.
No, really. It’s up to you!
Friday, December 16th @ Stardust Video, Orlando, FL. 8:30 PM doors. Free. All ages, but I’m going to say “fuck” a lot. Chris Zabriskie plans to play some drums.
Here’s how this works: you RSVP to the event using this Facebook invite. You leave one song in the comments section that you want me to play (just one). I play as many of them as I can in two sets, plus I play a few things scattered through the show that I want to do. And then, we’ll do an “all-request encore” where pretty much anything can happen. Although I’m increasingly hard of hearing, and having people yell the song titles all at once isn’t always paying off, so special consideration will be given to anyone that makes a sign to bring to the show with their song request emblazoned on it. Or maybe make a t-shirt with your request on it? That’s one way to guarantee I’ll play a song: make something creative. Man, this is gonna be such a blast. I already can’t wait!
THE REAL CONGREGATION IS NOW ON NERDY SHOW!
Recently, my radio show left the WPRK airwaves, but now we have a new home at Nerdy Show, and I couldn’t be happier about it! It was even covered by Consequence Of Sound, and now you’re just a few clicks away from hearing the weekly show anytime you would like. What are you waiting for? These music geek podcasts aren’t gonna listen to themselves, you know.
SPEAKING OF PODCASTS, HEAR THE INTERVIEW I DID ON SEQUEL CAST ABOUT SHOCK TREATMENT!
YOU GUYS, NOW I JUST REALLY LIKE TYPING IN ALL CAPS, SO I’M JUST GONNA DO THAT FROM NOW, ACTUALLY.
Just kidding. That would be annoying.
Thanks for your support, and I hope you’re all okay!
- Marc
