On December 27th, 2008 at Stardust in Orlando, FL, I performed the fifth annual Marc With a C holiday show. It was a marathon show that lasted over two hours with a very unpredictable all-request format.
Sadly, most of the tapes proved unusable for release. This wasn’t due to anything all that cryptic: the stage power at Stardust would surge occasionally. Sometimes this meant that the tape machine would shut off altogether, sometimes just one of the stage mikes wouldn’t work, and sometimes… we’d just end up with dimmer lights than we’d started with. In any case, the most listenable portions are really these eleven songs, the first forty minutes of the performance.
This is what remains in a listenable format. Please enjoy it. This will be available for download until January 17th, 2009.

It’s the Christmas season again, and around this time I’ll usually start dishing out gifts to you, the listener. I’ve decided to give this following show away for numerous reasons:
1. I feel really awful about having to cancel my radio appearance on 12/1.
2. I haven’t put out an Official Bootleg in awhile.
3. There’s no better way to get us all excited about the holiday show on 12/27 than to give away a previous holiday show. Don’t you think?

On August 21st, 2008, I was very lucky to be on the Phoning It In radio show in Boston. This highly inventive and influential show has had one hell of a guestlist: The Mountain Goats, The Capstan Shafts, Daniel Johnston, Poison Control Center, Lou Barlow, The Dream Bitches… all playing a live show over the telephone! I was super excited and nervous to be on the show, and I think it shows. The host Nadav took my fanaticism in stride, and I’m proud to let you all hear the show as the newest installment of the Official Bootleg Series!

We’re proud to bring you this one! Here’s a nice recording of our appearance at the 2008 Athens PopFest. We’d like to thank Lance Stack for taping this for us. Hear the crowd go nutso for Pop-Tarts, and the confused silence during the end of “Nerdy Girls”. Yes, strap on your headphones and pretend you’re there.

Yeah, time for another Official Bootleg. This one comes from the This World Is Scary As Fuck-era, and was recorded at Austins on 7/22/05. One of my first shows out of the gate after my ill-fated retirement. This was an especially spirited show, and I’m almost sad listening back to it that I couldn’t have played longer. Don’t worry, we’ll be exploring tons of other era’s in the next few installments of this series!
Aaaaaand… it’s super limited. You have one week from today to snatch it!
(Since I’m gonna be doing a few solo sets in the next week, seemed like a nice idea to revisit one of our old faves, you know?)
