Happy holidays, everyone!
Can I just say that I really need to start stretching before shows again? I am one sore little bunny.
Here’s a few updates for you. Yes, just you:
1. On Christmas eve, I was allowed to take over WPRK’s Serious Business show for two hours, in which I performed the following songs live in the studio:
Song Song
Charles In Charge
All My Drug Use Is Accidental
Mary Anne With The Shaky Hands
Jessica, I Heard You Like The Who
Freezing In Florida
Town In Flames
Stairway To Rudolph
Every Single Friend
Nerdy Girls
I Am Going To Fuck Your Life Up
It was a really good time. Now, as my insomnia would have it, I was up the entire night prior to the show, plus I was shaking off the remnants of a cold, so to say that my performance was “iffy” is pushing the envelope a bit. However, I had a great time doing the show, and I hope you had fun listening. I always love being on that show with Josh and Juan, and this one was a grand ol’ time.
2. Last night, December 27th, I did the fifth annual Marc With a C holiday show to a fairly full room… that certainly petered out as the encore went on. Not that I blame them… that all request encore was long as hell, and I’m amazed that everyone stuck through it. Don’t believe me? Check out this setlist – keeping in mind that I haven’t been through all the tapes yet, so this is in approximate order:
MAIN SET:
San Diego Doorways
I’m In Love With Everyone I Know
Freezing In Florida
Drunk Classic Rock Fans
Farley’s Song
In My Own Way
Every Single Friend
Jessica, I Heard You Like The Who
Good Enough For Now
Amy, It’s Kevin
A Very Special Episode
Human Slushy
What The Hell Were You On
Nerdy Girls
No London In Brazil
Terror Song
ENCORE (almost all by request):
The Heart Of A Rhino
Billie Jean
Mr. Roboto
Left For Her
Charles In Charge
I’m Not Coming Home
Diane Works For Ozzy
Stuck With Me
God Save The Queen From Navy Seals
Mary Anne With The Shaky Hands
Pinball Wizard
Born Vintage
Mean Mr. Mustard
Polythene Pam
She Came In Through The Bathroom Window
Golden Slumbers
Carry That Weight
Lullaby
The Problem Is Me
Sweet Transvestite
When My Ship Comes In
Monkeys Comin’ Outta Yo Ass
So, yes. You can see why I’m exhausted, right? There were some really wonderful moments, like some audience members making me laugh so hard during “Sweet Transvestite” that I literally fell to my knees, banging the stage with my fist. And some REALLY unexpected requests that I was so excited to get to play, specifically “Diane Works For Ozzy” and “I’m Not Coming Home”. The latter of which had never been played live, because I didn’t think anyone liked it. And “Farley’s Song” made it’s debut tonight, but I’m not so sure I’d keep my fingers crossed for a repeat of that one.
Thank you for coming to the show, making requests, singing along, etc. There are tapes of both shows, and I’ll be mining them for future “official bootleg” purposes. If you couldn’t make it, there will be more shows soon, but… less of the free ones. Maybe? We’ll see.
Comments about the shows? Excuses for not being there? Recipes? I want to hear what you have got to say.
Thank you for ruling. I hope to see you all very soon.
Love on ya,
Marc
