Audience Participation Request/Album Six News??

Hi everyone! Hope you grabbed volume four of the Official Bootleg Series while it was available. It’s gone now, but if you grabbed it, it’s now up to you to distribute it. That’s how it works!

We’d toyed with the idea of releasing a complete Marc With a C rehearsal for volume five, but could find no suitable tapes. Besides, we came up with a more fun way of doing such a thing. It’s this simple: you either email us at RetroLowFi@gmail.com or through our MySpace page and request a song you’d like to hear us attempt to play in rehearsal – likely after a drink or two. We won’t do any pre-preperation, so if we totally fuck up your obscurity of choice, it’s captured for all time in two-track glory. There’s a bit of criteria for choosing the songs that we’d like you to stick to: first off, the song you choose has to either be an original composition by Marc With a C (this would not extend to songs from the Lo-Fi Is Sci-Fi project unless we’re in a rare mood, and it *certainly* doesn’t include any songs from either of mine or Chris’s former bands). You can request a cover song as long as you’ve either seen us do it live, heard rumors of it’s existence in our archives, or we’ve released it on a record/Official Bootleg. I mean, c’mon. Let’s play fair, guys!

The deadline for request submissions is Friday, March 7th, which is also the same day that you can find Chris Zabriskie doing a solo lunchtime set at the Downtown Library in Orlando Florida. Yes, we’re serious. He’ll be behind a grand piano. It’ll be awesome. But seriously, the quicker we get requests, the quicker we can record this “open rehearsal” for you all. If we get too many submissions, we’ll probably pick them at random out of a hat. Or a coffee cup. An empty one, of course.

And now, the news you’ve likely been waiting for if you’re reading a blog by Marc Sirdoreus:

Pre-production for the sixth Marc With a C album is underway. I simply will not “live blog” this. You may get an occasional “yeah, we did some studio work” in a blog, and we might even play a few new songs live soon, but I will not chronicle the progress. There is no release date at the present time. There is no confirmed tracklisting. And until we’ve finished the album to our satisfaction, this is probably the last time I’ll tease you with any info until it’s done. I can say that this album feels very, very special so far, and we plan on taking very good care of this record for you. Here are the only two things I will confirm for you:

1. The album has a working title of Linda Lovelace For President.

2. This is a minute and twenty second recording that has snatches from songs that may or may not be demo versions of all of the currently proposed songs for the Linda Lovelace For President:

That should tide you over for a little while. We look forward to seeing your song requests for the new Official Bootleg, and to hearing from you all soon. We love you. No, seriously.

Love on ya,
Marc

Am I gonna six it up?

Yes, I am.

1. I, Marc With a C, married my longtime girlfriend on Monday, February 11th. It was the happiest day of my life. Thank you all for the copious amount of well wishes that you sent our way.

2. Ryan Price did an interview with me that I was barely awake for a few weeks ago. He’s shining his savvy spotlight on me in the latest installment of his “Florida Creatives” podcasts. Plus, you get a warts-and-all acoustic version of “Bite Size Help”, so go have a listen if you’d like! (http://floridacreatives.com/archives/93)

3. Working on another record. Won’t be done for awhile. Liveblogging it would kill my creativity, so just know that I’m making strides towards one.

4. My wife makes the bestest muffins in the entire fucking world.

5. A new show will be announced soon, I promise.

6. For those of you wondering about the status of the upcoming Marc With a C DVD, your guess is as good as mine. We still plan to have one out this year though. A mysterious “behind the scenes” clip from the filming showed up on YouTube from director Jen Vargas, and I literally found it like… right this second. Mind you, this is specifically *behind the scenes* and not an actual clip from the eventual DVD…. especially considering that it was shot outside of the venue.

Love on ya,
Marc

Official Bootleg Series #4: Live In Orlando, 03/2004

To date, all of the entries in our Official Bootleg series had been culled from fairly recent events. For that reason, we thought it’d be fun to pick out a random show from the archives and see what transpires. This time around, you’ve got a show recorded in March of 2004, months before Bubblegum Romance would even be recorded. Not only does this solo set contain the rarely performed songs “MWS”, “Well Fucked Sailor” and “Long Distance Dedication”, but according to my stage banter at this show, this was only the second or third time I’d played “I’m In Love With Everyone I Know”. My… how times have changed, huh?

We hope you’ll this one. It was recorded by audience microphones, and while I remember playing to the small audience very well, I have no recollection of recording it. A part of me thinks that someone else captured this gig, because I wouldn’t have had a four-track in my possesion at the time. If you know better, please clear up the mystery for me.

It’s gone now, but for posterity, here is what the tracklisting was for…: Official Bootleg Series #4: Live In Orlando, 03/2004.
