Serious Business recap!

On Wednesday morning, I was invited to come on 91.5 WPRK FM in Orlando, Florida to take part in Anonymous and Logan’s Serious Business show. My part included, well… pretty much just two full hours of me playing live in the studio. It was an absolute blast, and I felt really honored to be there. WPRK has show me such amazing support over the last five years, and I sometimes had a hard time believing that I’m really that lucky. Apparently their live chat room was filled to capacity, and when we gave away Marc With a C CD’s to the winner of a trivia question, they had more calls than they did for friggin’ MC Chris tickets. I felt great, and I can’t tank Josh, Logan and WPRK enough. Chris Zabriskie wasn’t able to take part in the broadcast due to a family emergency, and he was sorely missed. We pulled through with a fly-by-the-seat-of-Marcs-pants show that everyone seemed to enjoy!

Here’s the setlist of the show:

All My Drug Use Is Accidental
Classic Country Wasn’t Multitracked in ‘61
Song Song
Music Geek
‘Til You Come Home To Me
She Loves The B-Sides
Happy To Be Alive
I’m In Love With Everyone I Know
Born Vintage
Maryanne With The Shaky Hands
Denton USA
Freezing In Florida
Town In Flames
No London In Brazil
Laura, I Need Medicine
A Very Special Episode
Stairway To Rudolph
Nerdy Girls
The Problem Is Me
Life’s So Hard

I did my share of pissing off Peter Jackson fans, but it was all in good fun.

I played “She Loves The B-Sides” for our friend – and Marc With a C superfan – Stephanie Bernal. She passed away last night, and we’ll miss her very much. Condolences go out to her friends and family from everyone involved in the Marc With a C camp.

Love on ya,
Marc

Get up early on Wednesday morning!

(There’s been a slight change in plans for the live radio/internet broadcast. Read on!)

Now it can be told… not only did I just give you the “If Conditions Persist, I Will Resist” EP for an early Christmas present, but…

This Wednesday morning at 8:00 AM EST, I’ll be doing a two-hour appearance on the Serious business show on 91.5 WPRK in Orlando, FL. Those not in Florida can listen to the show live on the internet on www.wprkdj.org! I plan to perform for most of the two hours – bandmate Chris Zabriskie will NOT be appearing due to a family emergency – but I’ll be doing a solo set full of songs from all of my records, a few rarely performed covers… and of course we’ll throw in a ton of old favorites. If all works out, the set will be recorded for posterity for you and your grandchildren to enjoy.

This is all of course in preperation for the annual holday show at Stardust (Orlando, FL) on Saturday, 12/29/07. The show will feature yours truly, Chris Zabriskie and Bucket Of Nails. We’re gonna try to do a concurrent set that’ll mean that you never have to leave your seat. Except for bathroom breaks and maybe to get a drink, because Stardust has mighty fine beers. The show is free, all ages and will start around 8 PM-ish. We’ll see.

And finally, here’s something fun for you to watch. Recently a fellow named John Belflower asked me to make a quick appearance in his student film called “The Band”. It’s a really fun five minute short, and you get to see me at work. Of course, if you blink, you’ll miss me. It’s that kind of party. You can see it here: http://www.virb.com/jacobireland/videos/30778

All right, hope all is well, and I hope we’ll hear/see each other soon!

Love on ya,
Marc

PS: I’m now the proud owner of the first Os Mutantes album on vinyl. It’s unbelievable.

I’m sick…

…like sick enough to where I, the insomniac, just slept on and off for about 18 hours. I’m still feeling gross too. I don’t like being sick, but not for the average reasons. I mean, I’m all about any reason to stay in bed and watch cartoons, usually. But here’s what my being sick impedes:

- I have a day job that involves talking all day long. The less effective I am at speaking, the worse my job is performed.

- I had major hopes of doing a surprise live radio appearance for the holidays. Now, I’m not sure that I’ll be able to sing for it.

- I want to tell every last living creature on earth that Chris Zabriskie has just finished his new record and it’s better than your wildest dreams covered in marmalade. But, pretty  much lost my voice, so… no go.

- I’m listening to Belinda Carlisle’s sorely overlooked first solo album (aka: the only good thing she did besdies front The Go-Go’s, and even that’s debatable). I want to sing along. I cannot. Frustration ensues.

And with all of that said, I’m going to attempt to take a shower, body aches be damned. I figure that if I I can sit up awake long enough to write a blog, sip some lukewarm coffee and listen to Belinda Carlisle, I’m fit enough to let some water wash the germs away. I’d advise you all to stay away and not let me breathe on you, but leaving comments here isn’t infectious.

This sucks. I have a lot to do before the end of the month.

Stay well, everyone.

Yo.

Hey everybody. Hope you’re enjoying the new EP as much as I enjoyed making it. I’ve gotten nothing but positive responses about it so far, and I really can’t wait to play these new tunes live. If you haven’t heard it… look at the post just below this one. You can download it for free there!

Also, just wanted to let you all know that I’ve added a ton of new reviews to the “Press” page. There’s a flattering review of Normal Bias from Foggy Ruins Of Time, and I’ve also added some brutally honest reviews from an Australian reviewer known as AgentKnight. Go take a look if you’re interested in that type of thing.

Also… I’ll be announcing another live show or three in the next few days. Stay tuned!

A free EP for you: If Conditions Persist, I Will Resist!

As you all know, I like to give something to you for christmas. Maybe it’ll be a cover, a live show… you never know with me. This year though, I’m giving you a full-on official EP called If Conditions Persist, I Will Resist, Now, some of these tunes may very well end up on the next Marc WIth a C album, but this is definitely a release I’m wildly proud of, for numerous reasons. It was mostly recorded on four track over the course of roughly eight hours. All songs were written by my longtime drummer and muse Chris Zabriskie, but these tunes sound and feel so much like Marc With a C songs that I doubt anyone would be the wiser if I didn’t tell you that upfront. Without further ado, here it is:

Marc With a C’s If Conditions Persist, I Will Resist EP:

01. All My Drug Use Is Accidental.mp3
02. I Hope They Call Me On A Mission.mp3
03. Born Vintage.mp3
04. I’ll Be Alright If You’ll Be Alright With Me.mp3

We really hope you like it. Merry holidays, and we hope to see you all at the holiday show!
